Our Shiso (Perilla) Oil is unrefined, obtained by cold pressing - a mechanical process carried out without added heat or chemical solvents. This gentle extraction method preserves its full content of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and naturally occurring bioactive compounds, which are responsible for its exceptional cosmetic and nutritional properties.
The distinctive profile of Shiso Oil stems from its fatty acid composition, notably rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, 55–80%). This is complemented by bioactive compounds naturally present in Perilla frutescens, including rosmarinic acid (polyphenol) and ursolic acid (triterpenoid). These components are associated with antioxidant and soothing properties, making Shiso Oil particularly well suited to sensitive and mature skin. It helps support the skin barrier, promotes comfort, and contributes to protecting the skin from environmental stressors.
Belonging to the Lamiaceae family, Shiso - also known as Japanese Basil and Perilla - is native to Eastern Asia, where it has traditionally been cultivated for its aromatic leaves and oil-rich seeds. • As a skincare booster: Mix a few drops into your daily moisturiser, body lotion, or balm to enhance nourishment, support barrier function and improve skin suppleness.
• As a soothing treatment: Apply directly to areas prone to dryness or irritation to help calm discomfort.
• As a massage oil: Apply directly to the skin alone or blended with essential oils for a relaxing and restorative massage.

Hair Care
Shiso Oil can be applied along the hair lengths or directly to the scalp, helping nourish the hair fibre, improve softness, and support overall scalp comfort.
• As a hair treatment: Warm a few drops between your palms, then apply evenly from mid-lengths to ends. Leave on for about 15 minutes or overnight before shampooing.
• For scalp care: Gently massage a few drops into the scalp to help relieve dryness or irritation and support a healthy, balanced scalp. Leave for about 30 minutes before washing.
• As a repairing serum: Apply a few drops to dry ends to smooth the hair fibre and reduce frizz and tangles, leaving hair silky, shiny, and easy to manage without a greasy residue.
